Web Conference Reflections

Week 1

On October 5, 2010 was the first web conference for my final internship class. My colleagues and I had many questions regarding the specifics of the major tasks that we were going to have to complete during the next five weeks. I have learned many new ideas and 21st century skills that I've shared in my wiki, blog, and google site over the last 18 months. Now I have the challenge of linking all of these Web 2.0 tools together in my ePortfolio that I will turn in at the end of my internship class. This week I will have to start on on course-embedded reflections, 8 standard reflections, complete my field-based activity reflections and requirements, and to start my comprehensive exam. I will have my work cut out for me and I am anticipating the end of this wonderful experience!

Week 2

On October 16, 2010 was the second web conference for the internship program. Other students and I asked questions to clarify the different reflections for our field-based activities, course-embedded assignments, and the eight technology facilitation standards. The highlight of the conversation was that Dr. Abernathy told us that we must reference the technology facilitation standards and indicators in our reflections. If the President or Dean was to read our reflections that should be able to decipher and understand our work. Also, students wanted to know the grades of where they stand on the assignments for week 1 to see if revisions needed to be made going forward. Several students provided links to past graduate students and Internship ePortfolios to gain a sense of what the final product would look like. Dr. Abernathy told the students she had confidence in the work that we'd provided so far and not to give up hope.

Week 3

On October 21, 2010 was the third web conference for the internship program. Other students and myself shared our anticipation of being on a down hill slope toward graduation. Not that many questions were asked but the highlight of the web conference was regarding the number of citations and references that the students were supposed to include in the ITSE textbook reflections. Dr. Abernathy informed everyone that we must have at least 3 in-text citations and they can be from the same source. Other students wanted to know if they had to use the template in the internship handbook for the Internship Validation and Summary Report or if they could create their own. She said that as long as our template had the same criteria then it would be o.k. This week I will try to finish editing the look and feel of my wiki. I have a lot of links that I need to organize for my finished ePortfolio.

Week 4

On October 28, 2010 was the fourth web conference. This meeting was very brief. Students asked questions about internship activities and field-based experiences. These items were supposed to be completed for this week's assignment. Everyone is looking forward to the one week countdown until the internship program is over. I'm looking forward to finishing my field-based activities reflections and reviewing all of my other deliverables for this week.

Week 5

I attended two web conferences this week on November 4 and 7th. Most of the discussion was about how to best format and structure the curriculum vitae. Dr. Abernathy gave us some references as well as let the students view her personal curriculum vitae. I was very anxious to be so close to finishing my internship class. The class is very demanding as you try to gather all of your information, readings, assignments, and reflections that encompass my entire 18-month experience. Dr. Abernathy also gave the students some insight into completing the remaining 4 educational administration classes for us to be eligible to take the principal exam. I have gave it some thought and I think I will take her advice. For now I'm looking forward to the holidays as I say farewell to the Educational Technology Leadership program and I look forward to graduation on December 18!
